Kevin John Khyllait wins MTB cross country

SHILLONG:

Kevin John Khyllait of Longki Ingding village in Eastern West Khasi Hills district won the maiden elite MTB cross country competition organised by the Meghalaya Cycling Association (MCyA) as part of the 4th Meghalaya Games here completing 3 laps in 1 hour 11 minutes.

Maitshaphrang Kharwanlang and Gilbert Wahlang, both of South West Khasi Hills district bagged the second position.

Khyllait also won the Khasi Hills Challenge 1.0 at Kharang village in East Khasi Hills district and is sponsored by the Shillong Press Club.

Reuben Nicol Kharchandy, 16, and Anissa Lamare lifted their golds too in the Down Hill category for elite men and women respectively while Nicholas Syrti of West Jaintia Hills district won gold in the DH (hardtail) along with Taitus Ch Marak (NGH) and Aaron Oniel Kharpuri (EKH) bagging the silver and bronze respectively.

Kharchandy, a student of St Edmunds School, appearing for his 10th examination and has been riding DH and Enduro for three years now, he said.

In the junior category, Pynshailang Khyllait (EWKH) won gold while Thrangskhem Pariong (WKH) and Kyrmenskhem Nongram (EWKH) won silver and bronze respectively.

In the cross country for female, Balasiewdor Wahlang (SWKH), Lamtimai Khyllait (EWKH) and Aidotis Khyllait (EWKH) won gold, silver and bronze respectively.

Over a 100 cyclists took part at the various competition during the past two days.
