Knock-out football tournament at Umden

NONGPOH:

The Ri Bhoi Youth Development Social Organisation(RBYDSO),  Umden organised a Knockout Football Tournament at Umden on Tuesday, the Tournament was inaugurated by Arnold Syngkli, president of RBYDSO Central Body, he was also the Chief Guest. Alongside him was Marchborn Syiem, president  of Synjuk Ki Rangbah Shnong Raid Nongtluh was present as the guest of honor, office bearers of the RBYDSO central body and Umden Circle, headman of Umden were also present.

The tournament was contested by 32 football teams. The opening match was played by Umden Sports Club Against Jowe Sports Club. Umden ran out comfortable winners with the scoreline reading 3-0.

Speaking on the occassion, Syngkli praised the Umden Circle for conducting the tournament, he said “As a group we are meant not only to protect the community but to serve our people and bring overall development of our youth, including in the fields of education, sport, livelihood among others”.

Meanwhile Marchborn Syiem said “This type of tournaments should be organised more often, so that our youth will spend more time practicing” he also mentioned that ‘for the past two years because of the effects of lockdown, our youth has started to lose interest in sports, they rather spend time at home with mobile”.
