The Khasi Students Union (KSU) has sought the intervention of Education minister Rakkam A Sangma for early release of student scholarships and recently conducted MTET exam.
In a memorandum submitted to the minister, the union expressed disappointment regarding the delay in disbursing the scholarship funds.
The union expressed that the impact of this delay is deeply disheartening for the students who rely on these scholarships to support their education and pursue their academic aspirations.
“Many of the students come from underprivileged backgrounds and depend on these funds to meet their educational expenses, including tuition fees, textbooks, and essential materials. Therefore, the union urged immediate attention and intervention in this matter and disbursed the scholarship without further delay” said the union.
With regard to the recently conducted MTET exam, the KSU informed that there are numerous candidates whose answer keys provided for Paper I (LP level) & Paper II (UP level) contain inaccuracies.
The KSU claimed that this discrepancy has caused considerable confusion, frustration, and anxiety amongst candidates who had invested their time, effort, and resources in preparing for the examination.
“As the minister in-charge of education, it falls under your jurisdiction to oversee and uphold the standards of the education sector, ensuring fairness, transparency, and integrity in all aspects. Therefore the union seeks your intervention in this matter to promptly address the inaccuracies in the answer keys and rectify the situation” said the KSU.
The union urged the minister in-charge to initiate an immediate and comprehensive review of the answer keys by a panel of subject-matter experts to identify and rectify any errors, thus ensuring the accuracy of the assessment process.
Furthermore the union expressed that the MTET exam holds significant weight in determining the future of many aspiring educators who seek to serve our nation’s youth hence there is a need to take swift and decisive action to rectify the inaccuracies in the answer keys, thus upholding the credibility of the exam.
