KSU urges NEHU to accommodate Manipur-hit students

The memorandum stated that the ongoing unrest in the State of Manipur has impact the student significantly.

The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) education cell wrote to the vice-chancellor of the North Eastern Hills University (NEHU) to accommodate students from Meghalaya who are currently studying in Manipur University in view of the ongoing unrest in Manipur.

In a memorandum to NEHU Vice Chancellor Prof Prabha Shankar Shukla, the KSU said, “The union further put this request before your esteemed authority to kindly take a special consideration for admission into the University and also to ensure all possible help to cater these aggrieved students from our state, who are deeply affected by this on-going conflict, so as to prevent them from losing their semesters by which the University can commence their studies from where they have left off or to offer a special allocation of seats to them as deemed fit by the University.”

The memorandum stated that the ongoing unrest in the State of Manipur has impact the student significantly.

“The students from our State are in a tight spot, this ongoing unrest has grapple our students with fear and insecurity and the prospect of returning to the state seems like a daunting task due to sheer psychological trauma and their future appear bleak and uncertain as to when the violence will be contain and normalcy to return in Manipur,” it added.

The union requested the VC to take a special consideration for admission into the University and also to ensure all possible help to cater the students from the state, who are deeply affected by the on-going conflict, so as to prevent them from losing their semesters by which the University can commence their studies from where they have left off or to offer a special allocation of seats to them as deemed fit by the University.
