KV Happy Valley students observe International Yoga Day

More than 1300 students of the school participated in the celebration, which started at 8 in the morning. 

SHILLONG:

Taking forward this year’s International Day of Yoga theme ‘Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbkam,’ the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Shillong and Kendriya Vidyalaya Happy Valley, Shillong, celebrated the International Yoga Day at the school premises with demonstration of Common Yoga Protocol.

More than 1300 students of the school participated in the celebration, which started at 8 in the morning.

Principal of KV Happy Valley, K Ramesh, while addressing the students said that Yoga brings in positive energy, and ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbkam’ is seeing and believing in the world as one big family. He said, “The ancient traditional practise of India – Yoga is a powerful driving force to realise the prayer of yore: ‘Sarve bahvantu sukhina, sarve santu niramaya’ (may all become happy and may all become disease-free)”.

Exhorting the students to take up Yoga in daily life regularly,Sharma said that Yoga helps in connecting the body with mind and sharpens our intellectual abilities. Yoga helps us to develop self-awareness and self-discipline. He appreciated the initiative of CBC Shillong for associating with KV Happy Valley in organizing such a wonderful programme on this auspicious day.

 

Media & Communication Officer, PIB Shillong, Gopajit Das said that different programs are being executed on the International Day of Yoga in order to involve every section, class, group in the celebration and to take forward the noble message of this mass movement.  Central Bureau of Commission is also organising programmes across the country to achieve “Har Aangan Yoga” by engaging with the rural and remote areas. He also said that Yoga should become a part of our healthy and sustainable lifestyle. For the past 8 years, the global celebration of Yoga on this day has spread the message of practicing Yoga for mental and physical health, well-being and a sustainable lifestyle, he added.

Students of all classes of the school enthusiastically participated in the Common Yoga Protocol practice that was demonstrated by Yoga Trainer Kamin Mibang. Inter-House quiz competition, drawing and painting competition and debate competitions were organised among the students of the school as part of the celebrations. The competitions were supervised by Physical Education Teacher Shri Kuldeep Singh. Prizes were distributed among the winners of the competition from the office of Central Bureau of Communication.

CBC’s Field Office in Nongstoin also observed the International Yoga Day, 2023 at St Francis D’Assisi College today. The main focus of the programme was to remind the masses about the benefits of Practicing Yoga in Daily Life.

Speaking at the occasion, Chief Guest, Bro. Anup Kumar Lakra, Head Master & Community Superior said that people should take pride to have Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister.

Lauding the initiative of the PM of leading the nation to do Yoga every year on this day, he urged people to include it in their daily lives. Practising the same will help in the stages of life spiritually.

Guest of Honour, Charles Jana, District Programme Manager, DRDA, West Khasi Hills District also spoke on the importance of Yoga and exercising everyday for better health today as well as the later stages of life.

Ribasuk Jana, Resource Person at the occasion spoke on the importance of Yoga and also led the students in the Yoga exercises. Students, teachers, guests and invitees participated in the Yoga exercises.

Prizes were also distributed to three winners of Poetry Writing Competition on the topic – Benefits of Yoga in Daily Life.
