Incessant rainfall-triggered landslide at Compaduli in Assam’s Kamrup district has disrupted all road communication with Lumpi, bordering Meghalaya, since the night of August 2. So far, no casualty has been reported in the incident.
“The only connecting road between Boko and Lumpi has been closed due to the landslide. Officials of the public work department (PWD) are at work to clear the derbies and ensure smooth traffic movement,” said Pritam Kalita, field officer of District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Kamrup district.
The landslide, which was reported from Compaduli, 12 km off Boko town, has affected the lives of over 2000 people in villages such as Lower Lumpi, Rani, Makoibari, Harshanagar, Umali, Upper Lumpi, Nowapara, Dronpara, in the area.
“It is a minor landslide. PWD men are at work. One side of the road is already cleared and the other, will be cleared till evening,” Kalita added.
