Largest Bio-CNG plant digitally inaugurated by PM, Narendra Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi digitally inaugurated Asia’s largest Bio-CNG plant in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, on February 19.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi digitally inaugurated Asia’s largest Bio-CNG plant in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, on February 19.

Touted as the largest facility of its kind in Asia, this plant has been set up based on the concept of waste-to-wealth innovation in India’s cleanest city. The plant with 550 MT per day capacity is said to have the ability to produce 18,000 kg of Bio-CNG daily, which will power Indore Municipal Corporation’s transport buses and produce a large quantity of compost.

While addressing the attendees at the event, Modi said that the goal is to make India’s cities clean and pollution-free by setting up similar Bio-CNG plants in 75 big municipal bodies, across the country, in the next two years and that this is one of the key focus areas of the second phase of the Swachh Bharat Mission.

During the event, the PM asserted, “Under the Clean India Mission phase-2, our government has decided to remove these waste dumping sites and convert them into a green zone. The centre is providing the states and the municipal corporations with the necessary help”.

While congratulating the Madhya Pradesh government and the Indore Municipal Corporation, the PM states that this development will not only remove the municipal waste but also boost tourism in the state.

He also added, “The site where this Bio-CNG plant has been set up, until a few years back, was a huge garbage mountain, but today that waste dumping site has been converted into a green zone. I congratulate Indore Municipal Corporation and the state government for their relentless efforts in this sector. I believe that municipal corporations of other cities will follow Indore and will make their cities clean and green”. He said the municipal waste which once was a big problem in the country, especially in the big cities, is now becoming a source of renewable energy.(IANS)
