‘Like father like son’ practice not unusual, why this bias interpretation for politics? Ampareen asks

When asked to comment on the Prime Minister's statement made during his election campaign rally in Khyndai Lad on Friday, Lyngdoh said, "The state of Meghalaya has been fortunate to raise able men and women of exceptional political insight and character. That many such citizens come from the same family is coincidental."

SHILLONG:

National People’s Party (NPP) spokesperson, Ampareen Lyngdoh has said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is entitled to express his opinion on all aspect of politics.

When asked to comment on the Prime Minister’s statement made during his election campaign rally in Khyndai Lad on Friday, Lyngdoh said, “The state of Meghalaya has been fortunate to raise able men and women of exceptional political insight and character. That many such citizens come from the same family is coincidental.”

According to her, families of any tradition – be it politics, trade or professional careers, the ‘like father like son’ practise is not an unusual occurrence and a biased interpretation of this practice for politics is not an acceptable exclusion.

She also said that had the Prime Minister been blessed by a protege to carry on his good works – no citizen would have thought it odd.

During his election rally on Friday, Modi had said that dynastic politics in Meghalaya in the last few years has ruined the state.
