A 39-year-old man who ventured into Simsang river to catch fish in South Garo Hills drowned after suffering cardiac arrest on Tuesday afternoon.
The man was identified as Lendrithbath Ch Marak.
He was swimming in Nengkong village, near Siju, around 20 kilometers from district headquarters Baghmara, when he suffered the fatal attack.
His body was found floating on the water by villagers who alerted Siju police.
