Marngar, Blah meet HNLC leaders at Sumer

NONGPOH:

Showing support to the five HNLC leaders, who are in the state for peace talks, Khasi Students’ Union president Lambok Marngar and HNYF president Sadon K Blah on Thursday went to meet the members staying at the Inspection Bunglow, Sumer in Ri Bhoi district.

“The reason for this visit is to show our support, especially since the past few decades, the HNLC had gone through ups and downs in demand for maintaining the identity of the Khasis in line with the history of the Hynniewtrep,” Marngar said.

Saying that they made the visit so that the HNLC leaders do not ‘feel alone’ while the peace talk process is on, Marngar assured the outfit’s leaders of full support from the KSU as ” they have suffered for the betterment of the Khasis’’, adding that they too have the same motive and will fight for the right of the Khasis.

“We are now happy that the HNLC has come for the peace talks and we will always be on their side,” Marngar said.

Defending the HNLC, Marngar said people feel that the HNLC is the reason that they live in fear, however he said the real fear lies with the influx of outsiders to the state and taking over of businesses and even administration in the state. That he said, is the biggest fear of all.
