Martle attempts to get in touch with Renikton, Samlin

The HSPDP leader also said that if one leaves the party for any reason which cannot be specified it means one does not have principles.

SHILLONG:

Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP) MDC, Martle N Mukhim on September 28 said that he had tried to contact the two legislators of the party who are contemplating to leave but have failed to meet them.

It may be mentioned that the HSPDP had entrusted Mukhim to discuss with Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar and Samlin Malngiang to try to convince them not to leave the party, especially the latter.

“I don’t know whether he (Malngiang) is so busy that he does not have the time to meet me till today,” the HSPDP leader said.

He added that it is very difficult to meet the two HSPDP legislators and till date he is trying to meet them especially Malngniang who represents Sohiong from East Khasi Hills district.

“I will keep on trying. I will give the report to the party leadership that it is very difficult for me to meet Malgniang and whenever I call him he is always in a meeting,” Mukhim added.

According to him, whether it be in Mawkyrwat or Sohiong if the members leave the party it is because of the law of nature and not only that of the HSPDP to look out for another candidate to fight elections.

Mukhim also said that if anyone leaves a party, it is obviously affected by the desertion.

He however said that there is a need to have quality leaders to represent the indigenous people of the state.

The HSPDP leader also said that if one leaves the party for any reason which cannot be specified it means one does not have principles.

“If one has to leave the party then there must be some solid reason. But as of now the HSPDP does not have any reason with anyone to make someone leave,” Mukhim added.

Asked if the state lacks leaders who have quality as well as principles, Mukhim said that there are plenty but people do not weigh properly to get real leaders who can take the state forward.

The HSPDP leader said that even in each constituency the citizens might think that a person has the quality to be a public representative but due to lack of money they are sidelined.

“This does not mean that we do not have leaders but we reject one who can really lead us,” Mukhim added.

Meanwhile, the general council of the party has re-elected Mukhim as the president of the East Khasi Hills district unit of the HSPDP.
