Mawtari FC secures Super League triumph, earns Meghalaya State League spot

The RBDSA league this year had two segments, the General League and the Super League.

Mawtari Football Club won the Super League of the Ri Bhoi District Sports Association (RBDSA) football tournament, beating Umeit Sports Club in a tiebreaker match on December 21.

The RBDSA league this year had two segments, the General League and the Super League. Kongripara Sports Club won the General League, defeating Byrnihat Sports Association in a match that went into a tiebreaker.

In the Super League, Mawtari FC secured a win against Umeit SC, earning them the championship title and a spot in the upcoming Meghalaya State League. Kongripara SC and Byrnihat SA, finalists from the General League, will enter the Super League next season.

The second match of the General League ended in a goalless draw, leading to Extra Time and a tiebreaker where Kongripara SC emerged victorious against Byrnihat SA.

In recognition of their triumph, Mawtari FC, the Super League winners, will receive a cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh along with a trophy. Umeit SC, the runners-up, will be awarded a cash prize of Rs. 50,000 and a trophy. In the General League, Kongripara SC, the winning team, will receive a cash prize of Rs. 70,000 and a trophy, while Byrnihat SA, the runners-up, will be honored with Rs. 40,000 and a trophy.

The event had the presence of dignitaries, including AL Hek, Minister of the State; Hamlet Dohling, President of Meghalaya Football Association; R. B Shadap, President RBDSA; Rayonald Kharkamni, President of Ri Bhoi District Cricket Association, alongside other elders.
