MeECL employees to boycott work over delay in disbursement of salaries

According to the union, the management is adamant about meeting its obligations to pay employees' wages before the 10th day of every month in accordance with Section 17 of the Wage Act.

SHILLONG:

The Coordination Committee of Registered MeECL Association and Union (CCoRMAU) has decided to boycott work and hold protests during office hours over the alleged rigidness of the management in releasing their salaries.

According to the union, the management is adamant about meeting its obligations to pay employees’ wages before the 10th day of every month in accordance with Section 17 of the Wage Act.

In his address, president of CCoRMAU Arju Dkhar said that although the corporation’s monthly revenue ranges between Rs 80 and Rs 110 crore, “it is surprising that the government is unable to make timely wage payments.”

Admitting that the corporation has a lot of liabilities, Dkhar said that the organisation will be forced to dig out the truth if the management continues to be obstinate.
