Meghalaya begin Ranji Trophy campaign with two-wicket win over Mizoram

Mizoram set a target of 297 runs after having sent to bat first which was chased by Meghalaya batters with two wickets to spare on the fourth day.

Meghalaya defeated Mizoram by two wickets in their first match of the Ranji Trophy tournament held at Gokulbhai Somabhai Patel Stadium, Nadiad, Gujarat.

Mizoram set a target of 297 runs after having been sent to bat first which was chased by Meghalaya batters with two wickets to spare on the fourth day.

Mizoram had taken a lead of 81 runs in their first innings, after scoring 252 and bowling out Meghalaya for 171. In the second innings Mizoram managed 216, and Meghalaya scored 300 with the loss of eight wickets.

For Meghalaya Kishan Lyngdoh, Puneet Bisht, and Swarajeet Das were the leading run scorers in the match, with Bisht and Das both scoring half centuries in the second innings.

In the bowling department Rajesh Bishnoi (4 and 5), and Akash Choudhary (2 and 2), and Abhishek Kumar (2) were the leading wicket takers for Meghalaya.

Mizoram batter Taruwar Kohli who scored 123 in the first inning and 40 in the second was declared the man of the match.
