Meghalaya govt notifies villages reporting Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) in cattle

SHILLONG:

In a bid to prevent and control the Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) in cattle, the Meghalaya government has declared the villages of Sumer, Mawlyngkhung, Umpyrdong-Umden, Umkon-Umden, Saiden-Nongpoh and Jyntru-Nongpoh under Umsning C&RD Block in Ri-Bhoi District, and Rangthong under Mawkyrwat C&RD Block in South West Khasi Hills District as LSD infected villages.

The Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, AH & Veterinary Department informed that the confirmation of LSD in cattle was based on the test result samples by National Institute of High Security Animal Disease (NIHSAD) Bhopal on April 4, after which the government has notified these villages about the spread of the disease.
