A constable identified as Chiran Mushahary who was deputed as house guard for Additional Judge Biswadeep Bhattacharjee, took his own life by shooting himself on September 27.
Informing about the incident East Khasi hills Superintendent of Police (SP), Sylvester Nongtnger said that police were informed about the contestable lying on the ground at 6:30 am following which officers rushed to the spot to find that Mushahary had shot himself.
“Weapons issued to him were in his hands, so it was certain that he shot himself,” the SP said.
Asked about what led to the suicide, Nongtnger informed that the constable was on duty alone at night, and what exactly went wrong with him (Mushahary) is yet to be ascertained.
