Meghalaya set to witness hung assembly: AL Hek

Stating that the exit polls prediction of NPP securing over 20 seats will turn out to be wrong, Hek said, no one can predict a person’s mind.

SHILLONG:

BJP candidate from Pynthorumkhrah Alexander Laloo Hek, on March 1, predicted a hung assembly, stating that his personal assessment indicates that no party will cross 15 seats.

Stating that the exit polls prediction of NPP securing over 20 seats will turn out to be wrong, Hek said, no one can predict a person’s mind.

“According to me, it will be a fractured mandate; nobody will cross 15 seats,” he said.

It may be mentioned that Meghalaya had a full-fledged, single party-led government only from 1972 till 1978 under the APHLC (from 1972 till 1976) and Congress (from 1976 till 1978). From 1978 onwards, a coalition between APHLC, HSPDP and PDIC created precedence in Meghalaya and the same trend is being followed to date; and it looks like the next government too will be a coalition govt.
