MANIPUR:
Two students who went missing on July 6 from Manipur during the peak of ethnic violence in the state are suspected to have been ‘killed’ as few pictures surfaced on the internet recently.
Almost immediately as the state’s Internet services were restored, images of the two missing students started to circulate on social media.
The Manipur Chief Minister’s Office confirmed that the bodies belong to a young female student, Luwangbi Linthoingambi Hijam (17), and a young male student named Phijam Hemanjit Singh (20).
In the images, two armed men can be seen standing behind the two students.
In another picture, their bodies are seen sprawled on the ground, with Hemanjit’s head missing.
The chief minister’s office has stated that the CBI is already looking into the case.
Both students belonged to the Meitei community.
The photographs were shot on July 8, which is two days after they went missing, according to the timetable.
