The Mizoram Legislative Assembly budget session began with the Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati’s customary address, on February 22.
The first day of the ninth session of eight Mizoram Legislative Assembly session commenced under strict COVID protocols with restricted audience.
In his address, Governor Kambhampati welcomed the legislators to the session and urged them to maintain the dignity of the house, to have a deep sense of responsibility and purpose. He also appealed everyone in the House to engage in the high standard of debate.
The Governor then proceeded to highlight some of the achievements of the government during the ongoing financial year.
Chief Minister Zoramthanga, who also holds the Finance portfolio, will present the state annual budget for fiscal year 2022-2023 and supplementary demands for grants for the year 2021-2022 on February 23. The budget session will last till March 10.
