Nongpoh MLA Mayralborn Syiem on Saturday appealed to the state government for setting up a medical college in Ri Bhoi district.
Addressing a press conference at Nongpoh, the legislator said, “Ri Bhoi district is one of the Aspirational Districts in India and as per the parameter set by the NITI Aayog, the district has the right to get its own medical college.”
Syiem urged the state government to take up this matter seriously and to assure that the project sets out this year, as NITI Aayog and the central government still recognised Ri Bhoi as the Aspirational District in India.
He also urged all the MLAs and MDCs of Ri Bhoi to support the proposition for the benefits of the people residing in the district.
