It was also an opportunity for many of Garo Hills musical bands to showcase their talents before thousands of music lovers.

TURA:

The electrical performance by the legendary Danish rock band Michael Learns To Rock on Monday evening and December 13 night’s show by American reggae group Big Mountain has literally placed Garo Hills in India’s must visit rock and roll venue with the two day mega show witnessing one of the biggest crowds in the music scene of the region.

Organisers of the event have put the footfall at the musical event at over one lakh sixty thousand people as the entire runway of Baljel airport was brimming with spectators for much of the 6.5 hour musical show that also hosted fashion shows and a separate brew village for wine lovers who could savour the ethnic rice beer of the Garo tribe.

The gigantic wave of human gathering, who swooped in to enjoy the musical event after two years of Covid gloom, was something beyond expectations as fans turned ecstatic dancing to the rhythm of all time favourite “Sleeping Child” by MLTR.

Music lovers were left enchanted by the performance of Big Mountain, for many it was a first time experience of the reggae way of music. And it left everyone swayed by the performance.

It was also an opportunity for many of Garo Hills musical bands to showcase their talents before thousands of music lovers.

The crowds got into the groove by the performance of Da Suraka, an A’chik rock fusion band that uses western rock equipment and traditional Garo instruments to bring out fusion mix of music.

With Christmas round the corner, Garo Hills’ famed artist Marcus shook up the night scene with festive songs.

Legendary Browny and his group Riprap and Rough Roads belted out some of their most prolific numbers keeping the crowd on their feet as they grooved to some of their best numbers.

The last show would have been incomplete without the performance of Bangladesh rising star from the Garo community Antu Rechil whose hit ‘Arara’ got the crowd ecstatic and on their feet.

“Immensely moved by the enthusiasm of the crowds in Garo Hills,” said Antu Rechil when asked for his reaction on the sidelines of the concert at Jengjal on December 13 evening.
