Most political parties satisfied with Roster System presentation: CM

Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma also clarified to the members that the Roster is meant for direct recruitment only, and it will not apply to the Education Sector, for filling different seats across different institutions in the country.

SHILLONG:

Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, on May 19, informed an all-party meeting was held to discuss the Roster System, wherein most of the members from different parties expressed satisfaction after seeing the details on how Roster works.

Briefing media persons after chairing an all-party meeting, the chief minister said, “Today we presented the details of the Roster System to the leaders of different political parties, and they were satisfied with the presentation. However, some concerns have been raised, and clarifications sought so we have decided to set up a committee chaired by the health minister and consisting of members from other political parties so that they can seek clarification and give further suggestions on how we should move forward.”

Sangma also clarified to the members that the Roster is meant for direct recruitment only, and it will not apply to the Education Sector – for filling different seats across different institutions in the country.

The chief minister also informed that the appointments that were made in the past have been plotted, and the data has allowed the government to understand the sequence in which the Roster will be followed.

“All appointments that were made in the past, and all the decisions that were taken were taken as per the reservation policy, and hence they are legally binding on the government. Hence the question of going back, looking at it, cancelling or making adjustments does not arise,” he said.

The chief minister further added, “These were done and pointed out based on the reservation policy, and now after the data has been plotted, we are now in a position to move forward. In the meantime, as requested by the members, we will keep new advertisements on hold, till the committee submits a final report.”
