VPP, KHNAM walk out of all-party meeting

SHILLONG:

Members of the Voice of the Party People (VPP) and Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM), on May 19, walked out of the ongoing all-party meeting called by the government at the Main Secretariat today.

“There is no point discussing about the roster system, it’s like putting the cart before the horse. Unless we talk about reservation, discussing about the roster system for us as a party is a waste of time,” said VPP leader Ricky Syngkon.

They also stated that they have attended the meeting as the subject put forth was “Reservation Roster” which implied that the twin issue will be discussed.

Similarly, KHNAM leaders felt that it was a waste of time discussing about the roster since their main concern was the reservation policy.

KHNAM general secretary Thomas Passah said, “The party has made its point very clear on the prospective implementation of the Roster System,'” while urging the government to halt all the recruitment processes till the Roster is properly put in place.

Both parties felt that it was pointless to have a discussion as the roster system is a simple matter.
