SHILLONG:
TMC leader and Songsak MLA Dr Mukul Sangma, on March 6, reacted to the demand for a Khasi chief minister by a few sections of the society and said, “It is not a question of a community the chief minister should belong to; it is a question of the people of the three hills coming together to work for the larger interest of the state.”
Over the past few days, the demand for a Khasi chief minister by a few pressure groups was doing the rounds soon after the election results were declared with many hoping for a united regional front to form the government.
“There is a very wrong narrative that is being generated, perceived or propagated by a section of people. The question here is to have a government which is capable of freeing the state from the kind of plundering it has gone through in the last five years,” Sangma told media persons after the swearing-in ceremony of the newly-elected representatives at the Assembly premises in Rilbong here today.
