Nagaland govt not committed to development: NPCC

NPCC president K Therie said that along with the infrastructure sector, the government has ignored issues such as rampant load shedding, acute shortage of water supply, unemployment, and dearth of health coverage in the state

DIMAPUR:

The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has accused the state government for neglecting developmental activities in the state and its people.

Reacting to the Republic Day message by the state government, NPCC president K Therie, in a release issued on January 28, said the priorities spelt out in the message were all routine works.

“The state government has no goals to address the growing needs and problems of the state,” Therie said in the release.

He alleged that along with the infrastructure sector, the government has ignored issues such as rampant load shedding, acute shortage of water supply, unemployment, and dearth of health coverage in the state.

Training guns at the government for not addressing issues such as traffic congestion and withering economy, among others, Therie said, “The government has completely ignored the issue of traffic congestion. There is no plan to promote the growth of the economy or the industrial sector as well. So is the case with developing institutions, colleges and centres of higher learning.”

As for the Oting massacre of December 4, he said that sooner or later, they will find the truth and the culprits will be brought to book.

“Perpetrators of Oting related deaths will not go unpunished. Justice will be delivered. We will also root out the Armed Forces Special Power Act (AFSPA),” Therie said.

Also, according to him, if the state government wants a political solution to the Naga issue, it should agree with the Agreed Points signed with the Naga National Political Groups and stakeholders. “The truth is they are against implementation of a solution,” he added.
