Nagaland to get AYUSH Medical college soon: Sonowal

GUWAHATI:

Union minister for AYUSH Sarbananda Sonowal on March 4 said that an Ayush medical College will be set up in Nagaland soon.

Sonowal was inaugurating the first-ever Integrated AYUSH Hospital in the state at Razha Chedema in Kohima, wherein he emphasized on the importance of Ayush and its further development in the state since it is considered a biodiversity hotspot along with other north eastern states.

The union minister said that the centre has been emphasizing on the growth and promotion of AYUSH, as it not only gives strong immunity but also helps an individual perform better at the workplace.

Stating that growth and promotion of AYUSH would create revenue as well as employment opportunities for the educated unemployed youths in the state, he said that Nagaland has a huge role to play in this sector since the entire north eastern states are endowed with abundant natural resources, besides being declared as one of the world’s biodiversity hotspots in the world.

Expressing happiness over his visit to the state, Sonowal described the Nagas as courageous, determined and hard-working people.

He lauded the state’s greenery and abundant natural resources and urged the people to explore and tap those resources scientifically.

Meanwhile, Nagaland health and family welfare minister, S Pangnyu Phom, thanked the union minister for his visit to the state, and urged the centre to utilise the vast flora that can be used as medicinal plants for different ailments.
