SHILLONG:
The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) presidential candidate, Draupadi Murmu, will address all public representatives of Meghalaya at Orchid Lake Resort, Umiam on July 6.
Requesting all public representatives to rise above party lines to support the first tribal lady as a presidential candidate, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national executive member and in-charge presidential election, AL Hek, said that the NDA strongly believes in empowering women and uplifting tribals and backward classes.
Hek, further went to say that the NDA, in this regard, has unanimously proposed the name of Draupadi Murmu, the former Governor of Jharkhand as the nominee and presidential candidate for the NDA.
“It will be a matter of pride and honour for all of us to have a tribal in the constitutional position of the President of India,” Hek said.
