NEDFi urges entrepreneurs to take up more business activities

NEDFi Executive Director S K Baruah said that the corporation has assisted many entrepreneurs in Meghalaya and hopes to help more entrepreneurs to scale up their business enterprise with financial assistance through its various loan schemes and equity support through the North East Venture Fund, the first dedicated venture fund for the region.

The Executive Director of North Eastern Development Finance Corporation Ltd (NEDFi) Shillong branch S K Baruah has stressed on the need for increase in entrepreneurship activities in Meghalaya given the improvement state’s economic development.

Baruah was speaking at the business awareness programme organised by NEDFi Shillong branch at the Shillong Club on May 8 for entrepreneurs from Meghalaya.

Speaking as the guest of honour, Baruah informed entrepreneurs about the activities of the corporation.

He said that the corporation has assisted many entrepreneurs in Meghalaya and hopes to help more entrepreneurs to scale up their business enterprise with financial assistance through its various loan schemes and equity support through the North East Venture Fund, the first dedicated venture fund for the region.

To promote rural entrepreneurship, the corporation has extended support to rural artisans through its CSR activities to help improve their livelihood.

The meet was attended by 61 entrepreneurs having varied business backgrounds including first generation entrepreneurs.

The objective of the meeting is to create awareness on the schemes provided by NEDFi and to educate and inform entrepreneurs about the mentoring service provided by NEDFi through its Business Facilitation Centre.

The meeting started with Business Development Representative NEDFi Shillong B. Kharkongor, welcoming the participants to the program.

Deputy General Manager, RE Zeliang and Assistant General Manager P.Phukan informed entrepreneurs about the activities of the corporation and the various loan schemes that will help both existing and first generation entrepreneurs.

The meeting ended with an interaction with the participants and Branch Manager, NEDFi Shillong P.Rymmai.

The participants were also informed about other central government schemes such as North East Industrial Development Scheme (NEIDS) 2017 and the vision of the central government to increase entrepreneurship and industrialization of the North Eastern Region.
