New KSU circle established with 12 units from Umden

The leadership of KSU Umden circle will be entrusted to Toning Lapang as President and Private Matong as General Secretary, along with other leaders in various positions.

NONGPOH:

The Khasi Students Union North Khasi Hills district unit established a new KSU circle, on December 16 named KSU Umden Circle which encompasses 12 KSU units within the Umden areas.

The swearing-in ceremony for the first office bearers of KSU Umden Circle was organised at Umden Parish Hall, witnessing the presence of notable figures such as Raymond Kharjana, organising secretary KSU CEC, Ferdinald Kharkamni, President KSU NKHD unit, James Hitler Mawphniang, General Secretary KSU NKHD unit, and other leaders from the KSU NKHD unit and Nongpoh circle.

Addressing the gathering before the swearing-in ceremony, Raymond Kharjana reflected on the rich history of the KSU, emphasising its resilience through challenges and the unwavering commitment of leaders who faced adversity with determination. He expressed gratitude to past and present union members who dedicated themselves to the welfare of the Khasi tribes.

Kharjana recounted a pivotal moment in the union’s history when it played a crucial role in reviving the Khasi community during challenging times. He urged the leaders of KSU Umden Circle to remain humble, avoid personal misuse of the union, and collaborate with local Dorbar Shnong, women’s organisations, and youth associations to foster development and safety.

James Hitler Mawphniang elaborated on the union’s motive since its formation in 1978, emphasising its steadfast commitment to upholding the Khasi community in various facets of society. He highlighted the 44-year journey of the union and welcomed the formation of the new circle, urging the present generation to make wise decisions to shape the union’s future.

Ferdinald Kharkamni set goals for KSU Umden Circle, focusing on the development of the new C&RD in Umden areas, improving road infrastructure, and establishing educational institutions for the youth in the region.
