Nipped at right time: CM on NLCN

Stating that NLCN did not get to fully form, the chief minister said, “It was a group of people who were trying to form an outfit but as I said, the intel was collected at the right time and action has been taken so there is no such group as such,” Sangma added.

SHILLONG:

Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, on August 23, said the National Liberation Council of Nongkyndong (NLCN) has been neutralised by the state police at the right time.

“Yes, there were individuals who were trying to get together to bring out this unit and train. But all these were neutralised at the right time and approximately 10 people have already been arrested. Their so-called top leaders have been arrested,” Sangma told reporters.

Stating that NLCN did not get to fully form, the chief minister said, “It was a group of people who were trying to form an outfit but as I said, the intel was collected at the right time and action has been taken so there is no such group as such,” Sangma added.

Last week, after busting the newly floated outfit, seven gang members and one juvenile was apprehended from East Khasi Hills.

These include four top leaders including the self-styled chairman, commander-in-chief, general secretary and area commander West Khasi Hills, area commander of Jaintia Hills, recruiter and record keeper and three cadres.

The NLCN had tied up with other militant outfits of Nagaland and was supposed to send the first batch of cadres for armed terrorist training to Nagaland on August 17.
