“No difference between NPP and BJP, hence supporting each other on CAA”

Tura, March 26: Congress candidate for Tura MP seat, Saleng A Sangma, has said that the NPP and the BJP are together on the issue of the Citizenship Amendment Act and accused Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma and Tura MP Agatha K Sangma of giving a false narrative to it.

“When big and advanced states are opposing the CAA, why should we believe what the CM has been saying. Afterall, he is part and parcel of the same group that wants to impose CAA which is why Agatha supported and even voted for it in Parliament,” alleged the Congress candidate.

When pointed out about the statement made by his rival in this election, Agatha K Sangma of the NPP, that CAA has been exempted from the purview of the 6th Schedule areas that includes Meghalaya, Saleng Sangma termed it as untrue.

“CAA is applicable in Shillong and Tura. Both CM and Tura MP are misleading the people,” claims the Congress candidate.

He said that minorities are at the receiving end of the BJP rule in the country and those siding with the saffron party are showing indifference to the atrocities.

“Persecution on religious lines, especially of minorities, is happening across the country and there is an attempt to change India into Hindusthan, and CAA is one example of how they (BJP) is trying to impose their will on the people,” says Saleng.

“Though India has the largest democracy and diversity, a lot of incidents are happening. Look at whats happening in Manipur, Uttarakhand and even Assam where people are rising up to oppose CAA. There is no peace at all under the BJP government. The Congress priority is to ensure return of peace,” added Saleng Sangma.
