No fear of BJP `swallowing up’ NPP: Ampareen

The East Shillong NPP candidate said that the party will go ahead with zeal and fight the elections alone.

SHILLONG:

National People’s Party (NPP) spokesperson Ampareen Lyngdoh on January 20 said that the All-India Congress Committee (AICC) leader’s statement that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will soon overpower them, was “their perception”.

“Let INC say whatever they want. That’s their perception, NPP has its own plan ahead,” Lyngdoh said.

The East Shillong NPP candidate said that the party will go ahead with zeal and fight the elections alone.

“No pre-poll alliance on the plate,” she said.

On Thursday, AICC media coordinator, Bobeeta Sharma told reporters that the BJP always piggy rides on regional parties and then swallows them while responding to a query on the BJP’s failure to pull out of the NPP-led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) government despite making corruption allegations.

On the AICC leader’s statement that the BJP has already started buying the NPP candidates and it is not very long that they will end up like AGP (Asom Gana Parishad), Lyngdoh said what happens in another state is not their concern.

“If the citizens of our state give us a clear mandate we will not be under such threat,” she said.

The NPP candidate from East Shillong also said that the party is giving Meghalaya the chance to choose “One Meghalaya.”

“We offer the people of our state our slogan ‘stronger together’. We will work hard to reach that goal,” Lyngdoh said.
