SHILLONG:

Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Mukul Sangma on February 21 hit out at National People’s Party (NPP) national vice-president Prestone Tynsong over his remarks that the former will join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) along with his colleagues after the election.

Stating that the NPP does not have any point to be indulging in their (election) rhetoric, he added, “To get votes this is the confession that they make…that they will say anything, they will lie before the people just to get votes.”

The leader of the opposition reminded everyone that Tynsong during various election rallies confessed that politicians fool the public every five years and the voters fall into their trap.

“Now I don’t know whether people will still believe him and vote for him. He must be lying to the people of Pynursla,” he said.

Sangma said that the TMC in Meghalaya has established themselves with love and affection of the people of the whole state.

He said that it does not need another political party since the TMC will stand on their own feet even as he added that another extra five days the party will sweep the polls.

“As TMC Meghalaya we are going to demonstrate that the people of the state have this resolve to see that there is a change and when they say they need a change there is no other party its TMC…TMC…TMC,” Sangma said.

Tynsong, on February 2, alleged that the leader of opposition and his team are planning to desert the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after the elections.

He had said that arrangements have already been made between Mukul and the BJP.

“I know his (Mukul) plan. If he wins 3-5 seats, he will join the BJP. It is true that there is some kind of arrangement made, in what way I don’t know but Mukul will come out of the TMC…,” he had said.

Even Chief Minister Conrad Sangma in one of his election rallies had cautioned TMC chairperson Mamata Banerjee about her state leaders planning to desert the party.
