SHILLONG:
United Democratic Party (UDP) East Khasi Hills district president, Titos Chyne, on September 10, said that Mawphlang MLA Eugeneson Lyngdoh has not conveyed anything to the party as far as contesting 2023 election is concerned.
There were reports that Lyngdoh will not contest the Mawphlang election.
“Till now, we have not received any letter from Eugeneson that he will not contest the election. We are still hoping that contest,” Chyne told reporters on September 10.
Lyngdoh did not attend the 25th foundation day as it coincides with the death anniversary of his father late S.K. Sunn.
Chyne said that Welbirth Rani joined the party to strengthen the party in Mawphlang and the state as a whole.
“The party has decided that sitting MLA will get party tickets,” he said, adding that the state election committee of the party will sit for a meeting to decide the candidates.
