NONGSTOIN:
Following several complaints over non-functioning of blood tests, x-ray and scanning machine in Civil Hospital, Nongstoin, the Federation of Khasi Jaintia & Garo People (FKJGP), Nongstoin Circle inspected the hospital on Wednesday.
FKJGP members also met the Medical Superintendent Dr Z. Marak seeking clarification over the non-functioning of the machines.
During the inspection, the Medical Superintendent informed FKJGP that all the machines got damaged due to the lightning strike.
Speaking to the media, Pynshai Kharbani, president of Nongstoin Circle said that the non-functioning of the machines in the hospital has affected patients because they have to go to private institutions for several tests that cost them a huge amount of money.
He also said that besides the machines the hospital also lack manpower, ambulance and internet facilities.
The federation also demand from the state government and the concerned department to look into the matter and take necessary steps as soon as possible.
