Nongstoin gets new UG college

The institution offers undergraduate courses in Arts stream.

NONGSTOIN:

Education Minister Rakkam A. Sangma on Monday inaugurated Synod College in Tiehsaw, Nongstoin.

The institution offers undergraduate courses in the Arts stream.

Addressing the inauguration programme, Sangma stated that the newly inaugurated college will benefit the people of Nongstoin in particular and the state of Meghalaya in general even as he lauded the governing body of the college for this initiative which will serve beneficial to both teachers and students in the teaching-learning process.

The minister also highlighted the National Education Policy (NEP) that is being implemented in the state including North-Eastern Hills University (NEHU). He said NEP aims to make India a global knowledge centre.

Meanwhile, guest of honour, local MLA, Gabriel Wahlang, in his address expressed happiness with the inauguration of the new college which will supplement the services of the two existing colleges in Nongstoin town.

Wahlang also requested the minister to extend his assistance to the college in order to enable it to serve the people better thus facilitating quality teaching which has the capacity to produce future IAS, IPS, MCS officers and other high-ranking officials.
