SHILLONG:

People’s Democratic Party (PDF), legislator from Mawkynrew, Banteidor Lyngdoh, has said that he is not interested in replying to the allegation against him made by his opponents during the campaigning for the upcoming Assembly election.

Addressing an election campaign at Thangsning village on February 4, Lyngdoh said that he believes that the work he has put in as a legislator will speak louder than replying back to the criticisms of his opponents.

“We have nothing to reply back in words to their allegations. The people of Mawkynrew constituency has seen that I have done so many things for them and they will decide to vote me back,” Lyngdoh said.

He said that he has served the people of Mawkynrew constituency since 2014 when he was first elected as a Member of District Council of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council.

The PDF legislator said that when he was elected in 2018 and he was made a Cabinet minister in the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) government that opened an opportunity for the people of the area to see development.

“I have served with the cooperation of you all and it is us and not me alone who were able to bring benefit to the constituency,” Lyngdoh said.

Meanwhile, his supporters have hit out at Deputy Chief Minister and National People’s Party (NPP) leader Prestone Tynsong, alleging that a he is misleading the people of Mawkynrew constituency just for the political benefit of the party’s candidate Kansing Lynshiang.

Harkin Warjri, Sordar of Thynroit village, said that the NPP is taking credit for the government lifting of the ban on chemical fertilisers.

“It is because of the effort put in by Banteidor Lyngdoh as an Agriculture Minister of the state that the ban on chemical fertilisers was lifted,” Warjri said.

Hitting out at Tynsong, the traditional head said that the Deputy Chief Minister has to come all the way to Shillong to file his nomination papers despite Pynursla being a Civil Sub-Division since 2017 which show that it is not fully functioning.
