Now, another Tripura man buys land on moon

Earlier, a similar claim was made by Suman Debnath of Tripura’s South district. He is said to have bought one acre of land on the moon for Rs 6000 on Monday, which intrigued Champak.

AGARTALA:

A motor mechanic identified as Champak Debnath, on February 16, claimed to have purchased three acres of land on the moon for Rs 10,431 from the International Lunar Society (ILS).

Earlier on February 14, a similar claim was made by Suman Debnath of Tripura’s South district. He is said to have bought one acre of land on the moon for Rs 6000. This intrigued Champak, a resident of Tulabagan village, West Tripura, triggering his decision to follow suit.

Speaking to The Meghalayan on February 17, Champak emphasised he got to know about this through social media. “If the man (Suman) can purchase a piece of land on the moon, so can I. My younger brother, Jayanta, investigated the matter further, and later, purchased three acres of land for me,” he stated.

“I have already received the soft copies of the documents through email. The original copies will be shipped by post and expected to reach Sabroom within next week,” Champak added.
