Now, mobile app for strays-related issues in Guwahati

The Corporation will also launch a toll-free number for the people of Guwahati to contact GMC directly regarding ABC-ARV or any other animal-related issues.

GUWAHATI:

The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC), on January 25, likely to launch a real-time monitoring Mobile App for tracking and effectively implementing the Animal Birth Control (ABC) and Anti-Rabies Vaccination (ARC) process in the capital city.

The announcement comes in the heels of the meeting held at the GMC Conference Hall on January 24.

Present in the meeting were GMC’s Joint Commissioner, Pankaj Chakravarty and district Veterinary Officer, Dr Pradip Medhi, along with animal welfare organisations working towards the well-being of strays.

The Corporation will also launch a toll-free number for the people of Guwahati to contact GMC directly regarding ABC-ARV or any other animal-related issues along with arranging laparoscopy machines to sterilise street animals, which will ease the process and witness a rise in the number of sterilizations.

Logistic support will be provided to address maximum public complaints, including pickups of strays, the Corporation informed.

The GMC will further collaborate with different stakeholders such as NGOs for the ARC programmes and organise camps for ABC and related activities. A digital common platform is to be created for the same.

It has decided to explore Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds and Public-Private Partnership (PPP) initiatives to strengthen the movement.
