Santa Marry Shylla on Tuesday declared that she would be one of the candidates for the Sutnga-Saipung assembly seat in the upcoming election early next year.
Shylla is daughter of Thomas Nongtdu, who is an ex- nominated member of Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council. She hails from Byndihati area in East Jaintia Hills district.
Shylla said that she would contest from the National People’s Party. She is already on her toes canvassing for the elections. She said that she would put up a tough fight against the sitting MLA, Shitlang Pale.
In this electoral battle, she would have to fight against the sitting member of Lok Sabha from Shillong and MPCC president Vincent Pala, who is likely to contest from the constituency. She also claimed that the people of Sutnga-Saipung constituency, particularly the women, are in her favour as they would like to see a woman represent them.
