Blast at Smit leaves one dead

Confirming the incident, Sordar of Lumkynsai, Pynshongdor Lyngdoh Nongbri said that a man, in his 30s, lost his life in the incident.

SHILLONG:

One person, identified as Pynsuklang Khongwir, lost his life in a blast that happened at Lumkynsai village near Don Bosco School in Smit, East Khasi Hills district around 12 pm on July 3.

Confirming the incident, Sordar of Lumkynsai, Pynshongdor Lyngdoh Nongbri said that a man, aged 38 years old, lost his life in the incident that occurred in his house.

Villagers informed that no one was at home when the incident happened, except for the domestic helpers, who at that time, were busy with chores outside the house.

According to the Rangbah Dong, Krostingwell Nongspung, the deceased was unwell and bedridden for three months.

“Yes, one person died; we are yet to ascertain the cause of the blast. The police team is still at the spot to assess the situation,” East Khasi Hills SP S Nongtnger said.
