AMPATI:
The Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of South West Garo Hills, on April 22, apprehended one Chakeawat Hussain from Monabari Outpost jurisdiction and seized sizeable quantity of contraband items from his possession.
Acting on a tip off, the ANTF conducted a late night operation at Mir Jumla, Monabari area and seized SPSHEN – 689 capsules (Tramadol Hydrochloride salt content – 34.45 grams), Nitracel – 113 tablets (Nitrazepam salt content – 1.13 grams), one smartphone, and money amounting Rs 5000 from the accused after a late-night operation.
Police said that the person is a resident of Chamaibil under Mankachar PS, South Salmara, Assam.
According to the statement from the SP’s office, the accused person was using his grocery shop for storage, selling and distribution of psychotropic substances across the Garo hills areas.
Meanwhile, the shop has been sealed and a case vide Ampati PS Case No. 19(04)2023 U/s 22(b)/25 NDPS Act has been registered and investigation is on.
Police further said that if any person has any information about the miscreants involved in this illegal act, they are requested to inform the local Police Station immediately. Their identity shall be kept secret and suitable reward shall be given.
