Over 100 arrested for demanding constable exam results

Hundreds of aspirants gathered in front of the DGP office and staged a protest holding placards and shouted slogans demanding the declaration of the results of the constable examination that was held on March 17

GUWAHATI:

Over hundred people were arrested for staging a protest demanding the declaration of police constable examinations, in front of the office of Director General of Police (DGP), Guwahati, on April 18.

While Assam chief minister ordered an inquiry into the matter, Assam DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta, said that the Assam Police is not interested in recruiting people who protest, and added that the protesters were engaged in unlawful activities forcing the police to take action.

Earlier in the day, hundreds of aspirants gathered in front of the DGP office and staged a protest holding placards and shouted slogans demanding the declaration of the results of the constable examination that was held on March 17. Police after thwarting the demonstration and making the arrests, took all the protesters in custody and sent them to Panbazaar Police Station.
