Over a dozen BJP MLAs to join Congress: Tripura PCC chief

Sinha said that the Congress has been serving the people of the state since the time it was founded some 100 years ago and its "spirit" can never be dampened.

AGARTALA:

Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief of Tripura, Birajit Sinha, on July 25, claimed that over a dozen Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs are set to join the Grand Old Party.

“Over a dozen BJP legislators are gearing up to quit the party, and are in touch with the Congress. They want to quit as they are feeling left out from the main organisation. People of the state will soon see a massive change in the political scenario of Tripura,” said Sinha.

Sinha, who visited the Khowai district where a Congress office was allegedly vandalised by BJP-backed miscreants, said that the Congress has been serving the people of the state since the time it was founded some 100 years ago and its “spirit” can never be dampened.

“The Congress has a long history. Ever since it was founded more than 100 years ago, the party has always worked for the sake of the people, and it will continue to do so in the coming days. The BJP, on the other hand, uses intimidation, physical assault, etc., but it can never dampen the spirit of the Congress,” Sinha said.

Sinha further alleged that the bike-borne miscreants (bike bahini) of the BJP, who keep threatening people, will also soon jump ship.

He also inspected the condition of the damaged Congress Bhavan and assured all help for reconstruction. Sinha also exchanged views with the local Congress workers and discussed revival of the party’s organisation.
