Party should focus on 2023 polls: Hek

BJP MLA A L Hek said the state BJP should focus on the general election 2023 despite differences in the party.

Jubilant at the entry of John Leslie K Sangma into the saffron fold in the state on Wednesday, he said, “In our family, maybe we will have differences but our goal is 2023, the BJP-led government has to be there in the state. Since we are getting good leaders to serve our party, then we should aim to reach our goal.”

Marak heaped praises on the BJP and said it is a new phase in his career.

Speaking to the media, he said, “Why should we turn our backs to a political party governing at the Centre and deprive ourselves of development? My reason for joining the BJP is my need in bringing development to the people of Garo Hills and Meghalaya.”

He said that he has left to the decision of the party on contesting the 2023 election.
