Pawan Hans launches multiple routes in Assam under RCS-UDAN

GUWAHATI:

Opening new vistas in terms of air connectivity Pawan Hans Ltd launched helicopter services on six routes in four sectors of Assam from Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBIA) on February 8.

The first chopper was flagged off by additional chief secretary (tourism) Maninder Singh in the presence of ATDC managing director Padmapani Bora and other senior officials.

Pawan Hans Limited (PHL), a central public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Civil Aviation signed an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with the state-run Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) in Guwahati on the same day.

The PHL has been awarded 86 routes to run RCS flights under the UDAN scheme in six states.

In the 1st phase, the service is going to be operational on Dibrugarh-Jorhat, Jorhat-Tezpur, Tezpur-Guwahati, Tezpur-Jorhat and Jorhat-Dibrugarh.

Services will be provided three days a week- Monday Wednesday and Friday.

Subsequently, the services will be operationalized in Arunachal Pradesh.

“The operationalization of these routes connecting four important cities in Assam will create ease of travel for the residents of the region and give a boost to trade and tourism,” an official of ATDC added.
