NONGPOH:
The People Democratic Front (PDF), on April 2, announced Roswell Shadap as its candidate from the Mawhati Constituency for the 2023 Assembly election.
The party’s state president Banteidor Lyngdoh, while addressing a programme at Mawpat, Ri Bhoi, on Saturday, informed that the Shadap will be the perfect candidate to take up issues of constituency.
“It’s not the right time to announce the candidate, but by looking at you all, who turned up in great number at this programme, I announce Roswell Shadap to be PDF’s candidate for Mawhati. Let us work together, and give him a chance to serve you all,” said Lyngdoh.
Speaking at the do, Shadap said that he was gearing up to contest the elections because he “cares” for the people of the constituency. “We have been left orphaned by many of our ex-representatives. So, this time I thought, even if I don’t the ticket for the polls from any party, I would fight as an independent candidate,” he said.
Stating that PDF is a party of the common people, the minister of Youth and Sports Affairs said that the party was formed for the poor people and 90 per cent of their voters are farmers, therefore farmers are the party’s true representatives.
Shadap also praised Lyngdoh for his dedication and hard work in helping the people of the constituency.
Apart from Lyngdoh, state, district and zonal leaders of the party and supporters also attended the do and made donations towards the PDF Mawhati Zonal Committee fund for poll preparation.
