SHILLONG:
The People’s Democratic Front (PDF) will notify the first list in a week or two before Christmas.
General secretary of PDF, Auspicious Lyngdoh Mawphlang, told The Meghalayan that the central election committee of the party sat for a meeting on Thursday.
“The meeting decided that on December 12, we will release the applications for aspirants who want to contest from the party. One-two weeks before Christmas, we will notify the first list,” he said.
He added that eight aspirants have been confirmed to contest from the party although he did not disclose their names.
With rumours doing the rounds that the party’s two sitting MLAs Jason Mawlong and Hamlet Dohling are leaving the party, Mawphlang said, “Till now, they are still with us but we do not know about the future.”
PDF currently has four MLAs – Cabinet ministers Banteidor Lyngdoh and Hamlet Dohling besides Jason Mawlong and PDF president Gavin Mylliemngap.
As for the manifesto of the party, Mylliemngap said that they have constituted the committee for the purpose.
