Home Minister Lahkmen Rymbui stated on September 14 that the peace talk process with the Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) is on.
In his reply to the short duration discussion on the safety and security of the people in the state, he said, “I am very happy that HNLC has accepted unconditional talks with the Government of Meghalaya and Government of India and that the process is on.”
He added that the government has the will and the goal to ensure that the talks should reach the logical conclusion and the issue resolved once and for all.
Taking part in the discussion, East Shillong MLA Ampareen Lyngdoh urged the government to go on with the peace talks with HNLC, adding, “I would like to be privy to what is the future plan of this masterstroke of the government.”
