SHILLONG:
Social Welfare Minister Paul Lyngdoh briefing media persons on Friday stated that the pedestrian zones In Khyndailad are in the final stage of implementation, however the only bottleneck that the department is facing is that of rehabilitating the hawkers.
Lyngdoh stated, “The Shillong Municipal board is identifying sites for registered vendors which will not be more than a hundred and we will accommodate in an alternative site. We cannot just chase them away.”
Lyngdoh further mentioned that since they have to conform to national acts too, they are hoping that this exercise will be completed by October.
